Big Names, Small County
Oakham isn’t exactly on the beaten track for big names, acts and musicians and yet The Grainstore has welcomed some huge names through its doors over the years.
From HRH Prince Charles and Billy Connelly who are both fans of our real ales, to Toploader who performed a gig especially for us a few years ago and loved it so much, they came back to do another.
And we don’t stop there.
Each month we host a comedy night featuring some of the top names in the circuit-from Edinburgh Fringe award-winning comedians to TV acts. And it’s a bargain!
For just £10 per person, you have access to some of the top comedians in the country in an intimate venue, which is not something you get to do very often.
In February we’re welcoming Canadian born Tanyalee Davis who has appeared on Live At The Apollo and The John Bishop Show.
Opening the night is slightly camp, middle-class funny-man Hal Cruttenden. Having a background in professional acting he has made numerous TV appearances, including ‘Live at The Apollo’, ‘Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow’, ‘The Royal Variety Performance’, ‘The Rob Brydon Show’, ‘Let’s Dance for Comic Relief’, ’Would I Lie to You’, ’Sunday Night at the Palladium’, ‘Mock the Week’, ’The Great British Bake Off – Extra Slice’, ‘Celebrity Squares’, and ‘Pointless Celebrities’.
Also appearing will be the self-deprecating and hilariously awkward Edd Hedges.
In March we’re really looking forward to welcoming Irish comedian Keith Farnan who in recent years has taken the UK, Canada and America by storm with his brilliant outlook on being an international comedian.
He’ll be joined by Zoe Lyons who won the Funny Women Competition in 2004 and her debut Edinburgh show was nominated for the if.comedy newcomer award.
In 2008 she won the Dave, Funniest Joke of The Fringe Award and has appeared in many TV shows including Mock the Week, The Wright Stuff and the Michael McIntyre Roadshow.
And that’s only the next couple of months…
