Rutland Bitter

Introduced to our range in 2010, but originally brewed by Ruddles Brewery Rutland Bitter exhibits a full bodied flavour which belies it’s lower than average gravity, and with only 1.9 units of alcohol per pint, makes it a truly quaffable session ale!

Brewed using a combination of Maris Otter and Pale Ale Malts, this classic English Pale Ale, is infused with flavours and aromas drawn from a combination of Fuggles, Bramling Cross and Challenger hops, all sourced from a single Kentish farm.

Rutland bitter is one of only three UK beers to have achieved Protected Geographical Indication status; this followed an application by Ruddles. Since Greene King closed the Langham brewery, they can not take advantage of the registration. However in 2010 former Ruddles head brewer Tony Davis revived Rutland Bitter, brewed in Oakham, Rutland, at the Grainstore Brewery.
