Comedy in October
Fancy a laugh in the deepest darkest depths of October? Then join us for our monthly Comedy Night.
October features a stellar line up, headlined by one of the wonderful Tom Binns characters, Ian D Montfort. Ian D Montfort is a mind reader. An amazing piece of character comedy from the creator of Ivan Brackenbury. At the Edinburgh Festival this year he was receiving phenomenal reviews, 5 stars from most people and filling out the venue, putting on extra shows. A very lucky chance to see this. Make the most of it!
“Binns makes a triumphant return as the Sunderland psychic Ian D Montfort, mixing eerily good cold-reading skills with a joyful debunking of the genre” Independent
“…the character remains hilarious even as the tricks become remarkable. This is two shows for the price of one: pin-sharp character comedy and metaphysical magic to boot” Guardian.
Our first act on is the amazing Jonny Awsum. Jonny Awsum exploded onto the comedy scene with a crowd-pleasing set that’s seen him perform his special feel-good brand of musical comedy around the world. His most recent Edinburgh Festival Fringe show Everything is Awsum enjoyed audience acclaim and five star reviews. Since then he’s appeared on the BBC Radio 2 Arts Show, featured as a guest-presenter on Absolute Radio, performed all over the world notching up 1,000 shows as a much sought-after live performer, recorded his first album (now available on iTunes), and was broadcast to huge acclaim alongside Ant and Dec on the nation’s biggest-rating ITV show, Britain’s Got Talent.
Supporting both is the charming Steve N. Allen. Steve’s stand-up has taken a path through being a BBC New Comedy semi-finalist, Laughing Horse New Act finalist and Amused Moose Hot Starlet, on to performing at The Comedy Store, The Glee Club, Leicester Square theatre and The Comedy Cafe.
Steve has performed different versions of his topical comedy one-man show, The SomeNews Live Show, at several comedy festivals including Edinburgh, Manchester, Leicester, Brighton and Nottingham.
Our Compere for the evening is the ever marvellous Scott Bennett.
